OUR MISSION

Caring for Communities

The mission of the Lekki Food Bank is to reduce food insecurity in the communities around the Lekki area, by pooling resources to donate food to the less fortunate in our communities, while enlightening them about their health and safety, and empowering them to resist resorting to crime for their survival.

LEKKI FOODBANK

About Our Initiative

This initiative is designed to feed the less privileged in the Lekki communities –especially the day to day earners- during the lockdown period resulting from COVID-19.

Our Objectives Include:
  • Establishing a donation network of food manufactures retailers, wholesalers, corporate bodies and individuals.
  • Establishing an effective distribution network to ensure that food gets to the most vulnerable residents in the communities.
  • Empowerment of community youth for social inclusion and responsibility by engaging them in the distribution process.
  • Educating the less fortunate people in our community about their health, safety, and general well-being in order to ensure a healthier community and country.
  • Inspire other communities around the country to replicate our efforts in their areas, thereby contributing to a healthier, safer, and better Nation.
LEKKI FOODBANK

Why We Started.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the fore, the massive economic inequality in the country. Its effect is more profound on the poorer segments of society; the people who live day-to-day currently do not know where their next meal will come from; they are getting increasingly desperate, thereby increasing the likelihood that they turn to crime in order to provide for themselves and their families.

Lekki Food Bank was borne out of the need to address this immediate challenge, with a plan to continue to reduce food insecurity even after the COVID-19 pandemic crisis is over.
